VAT, duty and customs
Your order is an export supply from Austria, so our invoice carries 0% Austrian VAT. We ship on DAP terms: the carrier clears customs and collects the import VAT, any duty and its fees from you before delivery.
Import VAT: 20%, the UK standard rate. As a UK VAT-registered importer, you can use postponed VAT accounting: you declare and recover the import VAT on the same VAT return instead of paying it at the border. It needs no approval, but you must tell your freight forwarder, broker or express operator in writing beforehand.
Duty: under the UK Global Tariff, skincare, make-up and other products of heading 3304 and hair products of heading 3305 are duty-free. Products of heading 3307, such as shaving products, deodorants and bath preparations, pay 6%. No preferential rate lowers this: our goods are made in Korea and held in EU free circulation, so neither the EU-UK nor the UK-Korea preference is open to them.
Customs: you need a GB EORI number. The carrier, customs agent, broker or express operator makes the import declaration on your behalf, using your EORI or VAT number. Every parcel travels with our English commercial invoice, showing HS codes, weights and both EORI numbers.
Consignment value: our EUR 500 minimum order is above GBP 135, so every Glow Trade consignment falls under the normal import rules for VAT and customs.
Northern Ireland: the VAT, customs and product rules on this page are those for Great Britain. Under the Windsor Framework, goods moving between Northern Ireland and the EU follow intra-EU VAT rules, and a cosmetic sold in Northern Ireland needs a responsible person established in Northern Ireland or the EU.
Shipping to the United Kingdom
The United Kingdom is in our shipping zone 8 (non-EU Europe). We ship by DPD Standard:
- up to 3 kg: EUR 39.50
- up to 5 kg: EUR 41.00
- up to 10 kg: EUR 42.00
- up to 15 kg: EUR 43.00
- up to 20 kg: EUR 44.00
- up to 25 kg: EUR 44.50
Shipping is free on orders from EUR 1,000. Parcel prices exclude import VAT and duty, which the carrier collects from you. We dispatch 1 to 2 working days after payment, as a tracked DPD parcel from Vienna.
Labels, notification and the responsible person
Label language: the mandatory information on nominal content, date of minimum durability, precautions and the product's function must be in English, whether or not it also appears in another language. Ingredients are listed by their common ingredient names, and an imported product must state its country of origin.
Our labels: every pack already carries the German particulars. We add English labels free of charge with your first order.
Responsible person: a cosmetic product may only be placed on the GB market if there is a responsible person established in the UK; a mail-forwarding or PO box address does not count. The importer is the responsible person, so a GB retailer buying from us is by default the UK responsible person. You can instead designate another UK-established person by written mandate, who must accept in writing.
Notification: before a product is made available in Great Britain, the UK responsible person must notify it to the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS), the national regulator for cosmetics in Great Britain, through the Submit cosmetic product notifications (SCPN) service. SCPN is separate from the EU's CPNP, so an EU notification does not cover Great Britain.
Name and address on the pack: the pack must carry the responsible person's name and address. Until 31 December 2027, a pack carrying the name and address required under the EU Cosmetics Regulation, i.e. the EU responsible person, is treated as meeting this requirement.
