COSRX-Großhandel in Europa: Was Einzelhändler vor der Bestellung wissen sollten

A pharmacy owner sent us three photos of the same COSRX essence last spring. One bottle said Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence, one said Snail Mucin 96% on the front, and one had a German sticker over a Korean back label with no European address anywhere on it. She had bought from three sources to compare prices and now owned three products she could not put on one shelf with a straight face.

The price comparison was the easy part. COSRX is the K-beauty brand a European shopper is most likely to have already seen in a drugstore, so the shelf price is public and a labelling lapse gets noticed.

The short version

COSRX has been an Amorepacific subsidiary since the deal announced on 30 October 2023 that took the parent to 93.2 percent ownership, so the manufacturer behind the brand is a listed Korean group.
German drugstore prices on 2 September 2026 run from 4.85 EUR for 24 COSRX Master Patch Original Fit patches at dm to 19.99 EUR for 100 ml of COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence at Rossmann; a shelf price above those numbers needs a reason the shopper can see.
Article 19(1)(a) of Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 requires the EU responsible person's name and address plus the country of origin on every imported cosmetic pack; a COSRX unit missing either is not legally saleable in the EU, whatever the invoice says.

Who you are actually buying from

COSRX was founded in Korea in 2013 and describes itself as a hypoallergenic skincare brand for sensitive skin. Amorepacific bought 38.4 percent of the company in September 2021 and announced on 30 October 2023 that it would buy the remaining 288,000 shares for 755.1 billion won, taking its stake to 93.2 percent. The same release put 2022 sales at 204.4 billion won, with over 90 percent of revenue earned outside Korea across around 140 countries.

Two things follow. Reorders will be filled by the same factory for years. And a group of that size manages its export routes deliberately, so grey stock sits next to compliant stock in Europe and the price gap between the two is where most first-order problems start. The brand is on the shelf at dm and Rossmann, so EU-labelled stock is in the market; who is printed as responsible person on those packs, the brand does not publish, so ask your supplier for a photo of the back label before you order.

The SKUs that carry the shelf

Amorepacific's release names two hero lines, Advanced Snail and The RX, and notes that the snail essence topped Amazon's Beauty & Personal Care category after the brand went onto Amazon in 2018. On a European shelf four products do the work:

Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence, 100 ml. Rossmann listed it at 19.99 EUR on 2 September 2026, roughly 0.20 EUR per ml.
Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser, 150 ml. The entry product. Rossmann: 11.99 EUR on the same date.
Master Patch Original Fit, 24 patches. Sold for years as Acne Pimple Master Patch; the brand's own shop now lists it under the new name. dm listed it at 4.85 EUR, or 0.20 EUR per patch.

The public retail band for the core range at German drugstores is 4.85 to 19.99 EUR per unit. Nobody publishes a stable public ranking of COSRX SKUs for Europe, and Olive Young and Hwahae reshuffle theirs monthly, so ask your supplier for the last 90 days of sell-through on the brand and order to that.

Where the brand fits and what to put beside it

COSRX fits pharmacies, concept stores and online shops with search traffic: anywhere the shopper already knows the name. It is a weaker fit for a salon cabinet, where the client expects something she cannot buy at Rossmann for 19.99 EUR. In a salon, sell the patches and the cleanser at the counter and keep the professional slot for a brand with no drugstore presence.

The essence sells the routine, and the routine carries the margin. A COSRX essence sits naturally next to a Beauty of Joseon sunscreen in the morning routine, and the gel cleanser next to an Anua cleansing oil as the second step of a double cleanse. Supply notes: names, packs and viral spikes

Names change by market. The same 100 ml essence is sold as Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence in Korea and most of Europe and under Snail Mucin 96% wording on the brand's US shop and Amazon US. The patches were renamed from Acne Pimple Master Patch to Master Patch Original Fit. Order by EAN, never by name. Korean barcodes carry the GS1 prefix 880, and the German drugstore listings show the essence at 8809416470009 and the cleanser at 8809416470511.

Viral cycles empty the pipeline. The essence went viral on TikTok in 2022, a challenge Amorepacific cited at 2.1 billion hashtag views, and every wave since has looked the same: European stock of that one product drains while the rest of the range sits. Our rule is 8 weeks of cover on the essence and 4 weeks on everything else, and no emergency top-up at a marked-up price, because the spike is usually over before a rushed order lands.

Grey stock looks cheaper until it arrives. Korean-domestic bottles carry no EU responsible person and a Korean expiry date rather than the open-jar symbol. Article 4(5) of the cosmetics regulation makes whoever imported those goods into the EU the responsible person, and if that importer is you, the safety report, the product information file and the CPNP notification are yours to produce. Buying from a European wholesaler that already imported and labelled the goods leaves you with a distributor's checklist instead. The current COSRX range is listed with pack size and EAN so that check can happen before the order.

Copy this: the pack check before you accept a COSRX delivery

One unit of each SKU from the first carton, ten minutes. Reject the delivery in writing if any line fails.

EU responsible person: a company name and a street address inside the EU, printed or labelled on the pack. No address, no sale.
Country of origin: "Made in Korea" or equivalent, present on the pack.
Ingredients list headed by the word "Ingredients", in an EU language, matching the INCI on the supplier's product sheet line for line.
Batch code printed crisply on the container, present on both bottle and box. Run it through the supplier's batch-to-date table and confirm at least 18 months remain.
Durability: either a best-before date or the open-jar symbol with a number of months.
EAN on the box matches the EAN on the invoice line and starts with 880.
Product name on the pack matches the name your shelf label and website will use.
Seals: essence pump intact, patch sachets sealed, no tape over Korean text that hides the batch code or the barcode.

Photograph every failed unit next to the invoice before you write to the supplier. The email that gets a credit note is the one with a picture in it.

Questions buyers ask

Do I need my own CPNP notification to sell COSRX?

Not if you buy from an EU wholesaler that has already placed the goods on the EU market and you sell them as labelled. You are then a distributor under Article 6 and your duty is to check the label, the batch and the date. If you print your own translated sticker to sell into a second country, Article 13(3) makes you a notifier for that product, even though you are still not the responsible person.

Is COSRX sold in dm and Rossmann, and does that hurt an independent retailer?

Yes, both German chains list the core range online as of September 2026. That sets a public ceiling on your shelf price, so do not plan to beat them on the essence. Win on the routine around it and on the products the drugstores do not carry.

What margin can I expect on COSRX at wholesale?

Every supplier prices differently and none of them publishes it, so ask for a written price list and work backwards from the drugstore price in your country. If the wholesale price per unit is more than half of the local drugstore shelf price, the SKU only earns its space as a traffic driver, and you need a higher-margin product next to it.
