Duty and VAT in Oman

Goods entering the GCC customs union from outside the GCC are subject to the GCC common external tariff of 5 %. This duty is settled by the importer at customs when the consignment is cleared.

Oman applies VAT at a standard rate of 5 %, and VAT at import is 5 %. We recommend building both the customs duty and the import VAT into your landed cost calculation, and speaking with your tax adviser about your own company's position.

Shipping to Oman

We ship to Oman by tracked courier. Shipping is quoted per order before payment, so you know the full cost before you confirm.

Once your payment has arrived, we dispatch your order within 1 to 2 working days by tracked courier, and you can follow the consignment with the tracking number until it arrives.

Labels and product registration

Cosmetics labelling in Oman follows the Gulf technical regulation GSO 1943, which sets the safety, labelling and packaging requirements for cosmetics and personal care products. Ministerial Decision 199/2021 makes GSO 1943 binding. The required particulars and warnings must appear in Arabic.

Our products carry the INCI ingredient list on the label. The Arabic particulars required by GSO 1943 are applied for the Gulf market by the importer, and we supply the INCI list and product details you need to prepare them.

There is no central product registration in Oman. The process works like this:

  • The importer obtains a Certificate of Conformity from an accredited local certification body, based on test reports, a compliant label and the ingredient list.
  • The importer then obtains an import permit via the Invest Easy portal.
  • Each consignment is cleared through customs in the Bayan customs system.

The responsible authority is the Ministry of Health, with conformity assessment carried out by an accredited local certification body. Please check the current requirements with the Ministry of Health before your first order.

Documents we supply on request: INCI ingredient lists, product photos and label details for your registration file.
